Friendly Letters Made Easy

Well y'all, I'm just counting down the days until Winter Break! Only two weeks to go!

This week my kiddos will be learning about how to write friendly letters. Let's be honest--who writes letters anymore?! Even though letter-writing has become a rarity, it's still an important skill to learn. I can't stand when kids use their favorite texting acronyms in school! Call me old-fashioned, but I think they need to learn that there is a time and place for LOL and IDK and so on. (I sound like I'm ancient. Haha.)

The other good thing about teaching kids how to write friendly letters is that it can translate into our modern-day world through emails. Friendly letter writing skills apply to emails and Facebook messages, too!

So I threw together a little mini-unit on friendly letter writing. It includes:
~mini-anchor charts outlining the basics of friendly letters and the parts of friendly letters.
~two friendly letter samples
~planning and organization sheets
~a friendly letter template
~a friendly letter checklist
~directions on how to address an envelope

Check it out {here}! It'll make teaching this topic a cinch. And the first 3 people to comment on this post, including their email address, will get this unit FREE! :)

Have a great week, and don't forget to go "like" UnderpaidAndOverblessed on Facebook and follow my TpT store. Thanks!

Oh, I love the idea of having them write to Santa as part of the lesson. Thanks for sharing! I'm starting it tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes!
