It has been a crazy
couple of weeks. The last thing I’ve had energy for is blogging! Here are some
pics of a few exciting things that have happened lately:
Our first big
snowstorm!
My puppies in the snow |
Our LSU snowman! Geaux Tigers! |
I just love it (as long as I don't have to drive in it!) |
A fire during
parent-teacher conferences!
Everything turned out ok! |
All the teachers by the firetruck! |
The tall firemen saved the night! (I wish this pic was better!) |
Anyway, as I’ve done
conferences this week, a need for some AR help has been evident. I’m used to
big 5th graders who can keep track of their AR goals and points, and
what quizzes they need to take. With my sweet 2nd graders, I’ve
figured out (along with parents’ help!) that we need some kind of running list
of titles that the kids are ready to take quizzes on. So I created this very
basic “I will take a quiz on these books” checklist. This list will go in the
pocket of each student’s binder and each time they finish reading a book and
are ready to take a quiz on it, they or their parents will write the title on
the list. Then when the kids come to school and have some AR quiz time, they
can take their lists out of their binders and type in the titles they need to
quiz on. Once they’ve taken the quiz on a certain book, they can check off that
title on their lists and move on.
This goes great with
my AR Bookmark, which I also passed out to each student during conferences this
week. I let the kids color the bookmarks, and I filled out their names, ZPDs,
and goals. I will laminate them and send them home so parents can keep up with
their kids’ goals and levels, and so that they have a reminder of
arbookfind.com.
